The Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera incorporates improved autofocus sensor, enhanced 14-bit A/D conversion, an advanced Live View function, and the proprietary DIGIC III image processor which ensures that the fine details and natural colors of the images are optimally recorded, and also manages the camera's efficient energy consumption and high-speed signal processing performance. Its newly designed 12.2 megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor employs large micro-lenses over each pixel to reduce noise and enhance sensitivity up to ISO 1600, while the 14-bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) conversion process means the Rebel XSi camera records up to 16,384 colors per channel and allows the camera to produce images with finer and more accurate gradations of tones and colors. The camera also incorporates the Highlight Tone Priority and High-ISO Noise Reduction functions (previously found only on Canon's Professional Digital SLRs) and the camera is equipped with Canon's Auto Lighting Optimizer technology, which corrects image brightness and contrast automatically to prevent underexposure with backlit scenes. Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS SLR Lens: Canon's latest optical Image Stabilizer (IS) technology provides up to 4-stop compensation for image blur caused by camera shake and slow shutter speeds. Photographers normally shooting handheld at 1/250 sec can switch on IS to obtain a similarly steady and blur-free result with a shutter speed of just 1/15 second. The inclusion of automatic panning detection makes it easier for photographers to track wildlife and other moving subjects. This is my 5th camera and second digital camera. I love it. I owned a Canon A1 which bought the farm about 7 years ago. If it had been possible to get parts for it I would have payed to have it fixed. But it lasted over 15 years and I'm hard on cameras. As far as I'm concerned Canon is among the very best. You get great bang for your buck. The only criticism I have is that the Live View feature doesn't appear to work very well. But it may just be that I'm not use to the camera yet. I'm not a pro but I can tell you this is one amazing camera and I hope to use it for a long time. Oh my other digital camera is a Sony and I was never really satisfied with it. I got it when digitals first came out. It used mini CD's to record on and that was a real pain. It ate up batteries and did not like to be shaken. I lost several pictures because of that. If you are a first time buyer you may want to buy the For Dummies book/CD or some other book if it does not come with the camera. Classes are usually available at local Jr. Colleges too.

This is my first Nice camera. I am graduating from a Kodak Easyshare, hehe. This kit is amazing! It comes with everything you need. The bag I got with the kit was really nice, nicer than the one in the picture. It is a little small but I fit everything after resituating it all. It even fit the other accessories I bought that were not included in the kit. I would recomment this to anyone.
